Zornitza Stefanova, CEO
Zornitza brings over ten years of startup and business management experience. Before founding Ruby Networks, Zornitza was Director of Business Development at eGroups (now Yahoo Groups). Prior to that Zornitza consulted for the online divisions of European telecommunications companies including KPN, 1&1 Online Services and Telenor. Earlier, she held director positions at Wired Digital and IDG. Zornitza began her business career in 1990 at Savi Technology, Inc., a high-tech startup in Palo Alto. She has a bachelor's degree from Stanford University.
Steve Eich, Chairman
Steve brings over 20 years of experience in telecommunications technologies and engineering management to his position. Eich was CTO of Nortel Networks Broadband Access Business Unit (formerly Promatory Communications, where Steve was founder, chairman and CTO). Steve has held senior vice president and general division manager positions at Connectware, Inc., NetExpress, Inc. (an entrepreneurial affiliate of DHL Worldwide Express and Canon-Tokyo), GTE Business Communications Systems and Telenet Communications Corporation.
Victor Su, CTO
Prior to Ruby Networks, Victor was an innovator at Siemens Technology-to-Business Center, a Siemens-backed R&D lab and incubator. While at Siemens, Victor developed sophisticated embedded software, communication protocols, sensing technology systems, and information appliances intended for Siemens-backed startups. He has two pending patents. Victor has done extensive work as a researcher and a developer at the MIT Artificial Intelligence Lab and MIT Media Lab where he built next-generation smart environments. Victor holds M. Eng. and B.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT.
Joe Geesman, CFO and VP Operations
Joe Geesman is responsible for financial strategy and operations at Ruby Networks. Mr. Geesman was co-founder, vice president of operations and chief financial officer of Promatory Communications (acquired by Nortel Networks). Before Promatory, Mr. Geesman served as vice president of operations for the ATM Systems Division of Connectware, Inc., vice president of operations for NetExpress, Inc., a technology and communications affiliate of DHL Worldwide Express and Canon-Tokyo, and vice president of operations for North Star Computers. Joe has both a BS and MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
Darin Boyd, Director of Strategic Marketing
Darin is responsible for business strategy, market development, and client management at Ruby Networks. Previously, Darin worked in Oracle's Process Manufacturing group delivering vertical sales and strategic marketing plans, and as a manager with Accenture, developing technology and strategic solutions for Fortune 500 clients in the financial services and utility verticals. Darin has also consulted with both established technology companies and start-ups on wireless strategy, competitive analysis, and business planning. Darin has a BBA from Texas Tech University and an MBA from the University of California, Berkeley.
Payam Mirrashidi, Director of Engineering
Payam brings more than a decade of development experience to Ruby Networks. Before Ruby Networks, Payam was principal engineer at Spotlife, where he led the engineering effort in solving scalability and performance issues associated with a streaming media content web site. Prior to Spotlife, Payam served as senior software engineer and development manager at Infoscape, Inc, where he designed and implemented several software products, including Infoscape's flagship ERP solution. Payam has held senior engineering positions at Netmosphere, Inc. and at Sun Microsystems. Payam has a bachelor's degree in physics from U.C. Berkeley and has completed coursework towards an MS Degree in computer science.
